1 Overview
UNO Attack is a variant of the classic UNO card game featuring a battery-powered card launcher. Instead of drawing from a draw pile, players press the launcher button -- which may shoot zero cards, or erupt with a burst of up to 12 cards. The unpredictability of the launcher is the central mechanic that differentiates UNO Attack from the base game.
For 2 to 10 players, ages 7+. Plays in 30 to 45 minutes.
2 The Card Launcher
The motorized launcher holds the shuffled deck and sits in the center of the table. Players press the button on top when instructed to draw. The launcher randomly fires anywhere from 0 to 12 cards per press. You must keep all cards ejected on your press. The launcher adds genuine tension because no one knows when it will explode.
3 Setup
- Load shuffled cards into the launcher (face-down into the slot).
- Press the button to deal 7 cards to each player (press once per card needed -- or deal by hand and then load the rest).
- Turn one card face-up to start the discard pile.
- Youngest player goes first.
4 Gameplay
Gameplay follows standard UNO rules: on your turn, play a card matching the color or number of the top discard, or play a special card. If you cannot play, press the launcher button. Keep all cards it fires at you. You may also play any card you drew that matches.
5 Special Cards Unique to UNO Attack
- Attack: Next player must press the launcher button twice (and keep all cards from both presses).
- Trade Hands: Swap your entire hand with any other player.
- Wild Hit Fire: Wild card that also forces the next player to press the launcher button twice.
Standard UNO specials (Skip, Reverse, Draw Two, Wild) also appear in the deck.
6 Winning
First player to empty their hand wins the round. Say "UNO!" when you have one card left. Scoring is identical to standard UNO: opponents' remaining cards score points against them. First to 500 points loses (or first to a set score wins -- decide before playing).
