Uno Flip!

Start on the Light side. One Flip card later, everything gets brutal.

👥 2–10 Players⏱️ 30–60 Minutes🎂 Ages 7+📊 Easy-Medium Difficulty

1 Overview

UNO Flip is a variant of UNO with a double-sided deck. Cards have a "light" side (standard UNO colors and mild specials) and a "dark" side (harsher penalties). When a Flip card is played, everyone flips their entire hand to the dark side -- and the discard pile flips too. The game becomes significantly more punishing on the dark side.

For 2 to 10 players, ages 7+. Plays in 30 to 45 minutes.

2 The Flip Mechanic

When a player plays a Flip card, everyone (including the player who played it) immediately flips their entire hand to the other side. The discard pile also flips. Play continues with the new side active. The game can flip back and forth multiple times in a session.

3 Setup

Identical to standard UNO. Deal 7 cards each, flip one card to start the discard pile (light side up). Youngest player goes first.

4 Gameplay

Standard UNO rules apply: match color or number of top discard, play specials, draw if you can't play. Specials on each side differ significantly.

Dark side is brutal. Wild Draw Color can result in drawing 10+ cards. Use dark side Flip cards strategically to escape punishment.

6 Winning

Standard UNO win condition: first to empty hand wins the round. Score opponents' remaining cards (dark side cards score higher). First to 500 points total loses.

7 FAQ

Can you play a Flip card on your last card?
Yes. Playing a Flip card as your last card is legal. The flip happens but you've already won the round -- the flip would affect subsequent rounds.
